Data Modelling | Requirements Management and Software Testing - IBM Certified Developer

The UML is the industry-standard language for specifying, visualising, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems. The UML simplifies the complex process of software design, enabling developers to create a "blueprint" for construction. Rational developed the UML with contributions from other industry leaders, including Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle.

The curriculum starts with an overview of OOAD, the UML 2.0 , MDA, Use-Cases, Software Testing and the Rational Unified Process-RUP. Students are brought through the whole OOAD development cycle from requirements capture using use-cases to finding classes, analyzing system behaviour, documenting decisions using the UML 2.0, and turning an analysis into a design. The curriculum ends with two courses introducing the industry's leading testing and object-oriented (OO) modeling tool, Rational Functional Tester and Rose.

The courses have been designed in close partnership with IBM Corporation. Students are not required to have any prior knowledge of OOAD or the UML or Software testing, but some object-oriented programming experience would be desirable. This curriculum will complement our range of object-oriented programming curricula, including Rational Application Developer, Rational XDE, Eclipse IDE, C++, Microsoft® Visual C++®, Microsoft Visual Basic®, and Java, but does not target any particular OO language. The course is suitable for a whole range of software professionals, including project managers, application developers, analysts and designers, and anyone interested in learning more about OOAD.
