The audience for the Managing Information Systems curriculum
is MIS and business managers, as well as new application developers
and system administrators who require foundation training on how
the corporate IS function is structured, developed, and managed.

The Internet and Intranet Infrastructure curriculum
is aimed at network managers, newcomers to data communications,
and builders of internetworks, intranets, or wide area networks
(WANs). This curriculum takes students from a fundamental knowledge
of PCs and networks through a thorough grounding in Internet and
intranet technologies, internetworking, and operating systems.
The intended audience for the Systems and Database Design
curriculum is database administrators, systems analysts, and
application developers who require an understanding of database
management systems. Courses cover data analysis and design, data
management, database technologies (including ORDBMS and data warehousing),
and database programming.
The Application Development and Programming curriculum is aimed at programmers and application developers who need to develop
an understanding of the basics of important technologies, programming
languages, and development techniques. Courses cover programming
fundamentals, programming languages, Microsoft® Windows® operating
system architecture, distributed component technologies such as
Microsoft ActiveX™ and JavaBeans™, and object and component technologies—including
object-oriented analysis and design and object-oriented programming.
Also included are courses aimed at application developers moving
from a UNIX® environment to a Microsoft® Windows NT® platform.
The Cisco Curriculum
WebLearning and Cisco Systems have developed a comprehensive training
program focused on Cisco's industry-leading IOS® (Internetwork Operating
System) software. These courses enable system administrators and systems
engineers to install and maintain Cisco routers and switches and understand
their key role in the effective use of internetworking and intranet/Internet
technologies.
Courseware covers a wide range of topics from basic and advanced router
configuration to internetwork design. The various titles provide all the
necessary information and preparation for exam requirements for Cisco's
Routing and Switching design and support certifications at the Associate
and Professional level.
The courseware includes training on router and switch configuration for
LANs and WANs, network and internetwork design, installation and maintenance
of Cisco routers and switches, implementation of multilayer switching
networks, building remote access networks including dial-up services,
and internetwork troubleshooting. The courseware also covers many fundamental
topics in depth, such as bridging concepts, network protocols like TCP/IP,
IPX™ and AppleTalk®, traffic management, implementing routing protocols,
network addressing, IP multicasting, and VLANs.
Courseware training also covers wide area network configuration on Cisco
routers for ISDN, X.25, Frame Relay, Bandwidth on Demand, and other key
data communication protocols such as ATM, PPP, and SMDS.
The IBM Curriculum
The WebLearning curriculum on IBM technologies and products includes

Lotus Notes® Domino Curriculum
This curriculum focuses primarily on Lotus's groupware and web-server
product, Lotus Notes® Domino. This product, which has
become the industry standard for workgroup interaction, computing,
and communication in organisations worldwide, has now evolved to
become the complete Internet business solution.
These WebLearning courses provide training in Lotus Notes Domino
as a groupware and Internet product to users at all levels, from
end-users to application developers and system administrators. The
courses map to related Certified Lotus Specialist and Certified
Lotus Professional exams.
At the end-user level, WebLearning provides courses that allow
students to obtain competence in using the Notes client (from
Lotus Notes® Release 4.1 to the latest release, Lotus Notes
Release 5.0) for workgroup activities, Notes Mail®, and Notes
calendaring and scheduling. The courses also include training on
completing Notes tasks from within a web browser.
For application developers, WebLearning presents courses that teach
students to use basic application development techniques for Notes
at Application Development I level, to use workflow development
techniques at Application Development II level, and finally to use
LotusScript® to write sophisticated database applications at
Application Development III level. Application developers with basic
application development techniques can also use the relevant Domino
5 courses to learn how to build interactive web applications.

and Domino.Merchant. Finally, both application developers

WebLearning also presents a range of courses in the Domino 4.5
curriculum to webmasters and web application developers new to the
Lotus Notes Domino environment, beginning with an introduction to
Domino. Programmers can then move on to gain competence in the Notes
application development environment, which will prepare them for
training in building interactive Domino web applications, while
webmasters can learn how to install and maintain a Domino web site.

The End User Curriculum (ECDL, ICDL, MICROSOFT MOUS)
The WebLearning End User courses are primarily aimed at a non-technical
audience with little or no computing experience. There are four End
User groupings: "Home and Personal Finance", "Office", "PC Maintenance",
and "Web Power".
The WebLearning End User: Office curriculum covers Microsoft
Office 2000, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Front Page, and Microsoft
Word. Effective Business Writing is also covered. The WebLearning
End User: PC Maintenance curriculum teaches the End user how to prevent
and solve problems with their PC. Additionally there is extensive
coverage of Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000.
With the Internet playing an increasing role in daily life, the WebLearning
End User: Web Power curriculum aims to educate the End user in
the ways of the Web leading to CIW Web Designer or ECDL Certification.
Topics covered include the principal Web browsers, e-Commerce, and
Internet security. Useful skills like using e-mail and newsgroups,
and searching the Internet are also dealt with.
The Microsoft Curriculum
WebLearning first entered into partnership with Microsoft in 1995,
and since then has built an extensive training program covering
a wide range of Microsoft's popular software products and certifications.
The Microsoft training program includes a number of curricula aimed
at system administrators using Microsoft® Windows 2000 NT® and BackOffice®,
while a comprehensive choice of courseware is offered to developers
using Microsoft's Visual Studio™ tools, including
Visual Basic®, Visual C++®, and Visual InterDev™. Further curricula
are of interest to end-users, including courses on Windows®, Office,
Internet Explorer, Outlook™, and Exchange.
In addition to teaching the skills required to implement and use
Microsoft technologies, these courses, approved by Microsoft, prepare
students for certification examinations leading to qualifications
under the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) program.

The Netscape Curriculum
WebLearning and Netscape have cooperatively developed a suite of
courses on Netscape's industry-leading LiveWire™ and JavaScript™ intranet/Internet software products.
The relationship was recently expanded to develop courses on Netscape's
Enterprise Server™ and Communicator™ products. The LiveWire courses
examine the capabilities and components of LiveWire. A comparison
of LiveWire applications with static HTML is included, together
with an explanation of how LiveWire applications can be integrated
with SQL databases.
These courses also show how LiveWire can be used to manage web
applications and sites. The JavaScript courses examine the features
and syntax of the JavaScript scripting language and how it can be
used to develop client-side interactive web-based applications.
They also provide in-depth training on the concepts and use of the
JavaScript object model in developing object-oriented applications.
Netscape Enterprise Server is part of the Netscape SuiteSpot® integrated
package of intranet/Internet information management software.
It provides content management, application services, and centralized
administration. The Netscape Enterprise Server courses provide comprehensive
training on planning and implementing an Enterprise web site on
UNIX® and Microsoft® Windows NT® platforms.
The courses also include training on maintaining and securing
a multiserver site and its content. Netscape Communicator combines
the Netscape web browser software, Netscape Navigator®, with a range
of Internet tools for messaging, news and discussion group access,
online conferencing, and web page creation. WebLearning provides
a suite of courses that provide complete training on all aspects
of Communicator's components.
The courses also include more advanced training on Communicator's
configuration utilities. Netscape Communicator courses provide students
with skills to take advantage of the rich features of Communicator,
including Navigator, Messenger, and Composer.
The Novell Curriculum
The cooperative development partnership between WebLearning and
Novell focuses on Novell's industry-leading networking software.
The WebLearning Novell curriculum provides training for three key
certification programs: Certified Novell Administrator(SM)—related
WebLearning courses cover administration on NetWare 5™, intraNetWare®,
and NetWare 3™ Certified Novell Engineer(SM)—related WebLearning
courses cover administration, advanced administration, installation
and configuration, design and implementation, networking technologies,
service and support, and TCP/IP transport on NetWare 5, intraNetWare,
and NetWare 3 Novell's Certified Internet Professional program consists
of five separate Novell certifications—related WebLearning courses
cover understanding and applying Internet concepts, administration,
TCP/IP transport, web authoring and publishing, advanced web authoring,
and web server management All WebLearning courses in the Novell
curriculum are mapped to Novell® classroom courses and to the relevant
certification examinations to provide comprehensive training for
NetWare 5, intraNetWare, and NetWare 3. In addition to certification
training, WebLearning will continue to support training on NetWare
4.1 and NetWare 3.12 for administrators still supporting legacy
systems using these versions.
The Oracle Curriculum
WebLearning and Oracle have jointly developed web-based training
courseware on Oracle's leading relational database and application
development technology.
For an introduction to Oracle®, students should take the courses
in the Oracle Introduction curriculum. These courses give the student
the necessary foundation to move into application development using
Oracle's Developer™ toolkit, or database administration using Oracle8™,
Oracle8i™ or Oracle9i™.
The Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g Database Administration curriculum has been introduced
to address the needs of both proficient Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g database administrators
and those new to Oracle administration. This curriculum contains
courses that update Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g administrators with the necessary
skills to administer in the Oracle8 environment.
It also contains updated administration and backup and recovery
courses, also covered in WebLearning's Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g curriculum. These
WebLearning courses cover three of the five areas (introduction,
administration, and backup and recovery) necessary to prepare a
candidate for the Oracle8 Certified Database Administrator qualification.
The Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g curriculum covers Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g administration and
Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g backup and recovery. A fundamentals course provides system
and database administrators with a detailed understanding of the
architecture of the Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g database server and outlines system
and database administration duties.
Other courses in the suite cover key responsibilities, including
database creation, storage management, data and transaction management,
and security issues.
The backup and recovery courses cover basic and advanced backup
theory and practice along with recovery and troubleshooting techniques.
Students taking these courses will be able to configure and maintain
an Oracle8, 9i and Oracle10g database management system using its associated tools.
The WebLearning Developer curriculum features courses that equip
application developers with the knowledge to build enterprise-wide
client/server applications using the three key component tools of
Developer—forms, reports, and graphics. Students learn fundamentals,
design and development techniques, and more advanced application
development and integration techniques.
The instructional design of these courses has been carried out jointly
by WebLearning and Oracle. The contents of the courses map to Oracle
classroom training.
The SAP Curriculum
To meet the growing training requirement for SAP® R/3™ training,
WebLearning, in partnership with SAP, has developed a substantial
training program to provide end-users, power users, and project
team members with high-quality overview training on key SAP R/3
business processes. This curriculum has been designed to help companies
realize the full benefits of R/3 quickly and cost-effectively. Early
in the R/3 implementation process it is essential to train not only
the project teams, but also managers and key users.
This program provides a broad curriculum to meet the needs of
these users and support the needs of project team members as a supplementary
or cross-training resource. For project team members the R/3 4 curriculum
features a range of introductory business process courses that helps
this core audience to understand the benefits of implementing R/3,
including a complete walkthrough of the process while defining integration
points between processes.
The second stage is to train the actual business users of SAP
R/3 in their individual roles. To meet their unique requirements,
end-user courses are provided that are role-based and process-oriented.
They are designed to work with a company's classroom and or on-the-job
training components, and to ensure that end-users quickly learn
the skills they need to perform their day-to-day tasks efficiently.
The SAP R/3 4.x: Business Processes curriculum was developed to
address the training requirements of SAP customers implementing
or moving to this latest version of SAP. Other courses are also
available, specifically for project team members requiring detailed
training on R/3 3.x.
The C/C++ Curriculum
The WebLearning C/C++ curriculum provides comprehensive training
in these professional programming languages. As a general-purpose
procedural language, C can be used to write a wide range of applications
from word processing to financial and industrial control systems.
WebLearning offers a wide range of courses that cover language,
data representation, expressions, functions, and flow control, as
well as text and record processing and the C standard library and
preprocessor. These courses are based on industry-standard ANSI
C. For C programmers interested in moving to C++ and object technology,
we offer generic object-oriented concepts training, while, for programmers
specifically interested in using the Unified Modeling Language methodology
for addressing object-oriented analysis and design, we offer our
OOAD with the UML curriculum. C++ is an object-oriented derivative
of C, combining all the advantages of the C language with those
of the object-oriented programming model. These WebLearning courses
are devoted to exploring the capabilities of the C++ language in
order to enable the student to write useful C++ programs. Additional
courses provide a sound understanding of object-oriented principles,
objects, classes, OO analysis, and OO design.
The Internet and Intranet Skills Curriculum (CIW - Certified
Internet WebMaster)
WebLearning has recognized the need to provide effective generic
training for organisations seeking to take advantage of the opportunities
made available by the deployment of Internet and intranet technology.
This curriculum contains a series of non-product-specific courses
that teach Internet skills to a broad range of students. End-user
training provides students with the skills and knowledge to use
intranets and the Internet effectively. A wide range of subjects
is addressed, including browser functionality, efficient searching,
e-mail, and FTP. Web-site developer training provides students with
an understanding of how to build effective interactive web applications.
HTML, JavaScript™, and Java™ are just some of the subjects covered.
These courses are an important prerequisite for more detailed curricula
on web publishing and application development. Web-site administrator
training provides students with detailed knowledge of the issues
faced in developing and maintaining an effective web site. Web-server
functionality is covered, along with the important subject of Internet
and intranet security. These courses are an excellent introduction
for students interested in web-server administration using products
such as Lotus Notes® Domino™, Novell® intraNetWare®, Microsoft®
Internet Information Server, and Netscape® Enterprise Server™.
The Internet Security Curriculum(CIW - Certified Internet WebMaster)
The WebLearning Internet Security curriculum has been designed to
meet the training needs of information technology specialists directly
concerned with intranet and Internet security. The Internet Security
curriculum is the first comprehensive interactive training curriculum
to focus on this critical area. It enables users to become familiar
with the concepts and technologies of a wide array of popular Internet
security products. WebLearning has formed the Internet Security
Courseware Consortium (ISCC) to define vendor-specific courseware
to address the security technology training requirements of organisations
worldwide. Companies participating in the new consortium with WebLearning
include Check Point Software Technologies, Cisco Systems, IBM, Intel,
the JavaSoft business unit of Sun Microsystems, Lotus Development,
Netscape, Network Associates, RSA Data Security, Security Dynamics,
and VeriSign. The curriculum features four layers—Concept, Platform,
Web Server, and Security Technology. Contained within each of the
layers are full in-depth courses that focus on generic content,
such as firewalls and secure web commerce, as well as vendor-specific
content, such as Microsoft® Windows NT® security and Java™ security.
The Internetworking Curriculum (COMPTIA iNet+ and Network+)
The speed and sophistication of new and developing network technologies
have led to a boom in LAN and WAN based distributed computing. Rapidly
rising communication speeds, improving wireless capability, and
other technological advances have extended the scope of corporate
networking and the need for training. The WebLearning Internetworking
curriculum meets that training need. It represents a set of interrelated
curricula that provide in-depth training for a wide range of networking
professionals—from those who are new to networking to administrators
and data communications professionals in need of instruction in
advanced internetworking. A broad range of in-depth training is
provided by the following curricula: Internetworking Essentials
LAN Technologies WAN Technologies Network Management and Security
Routing, Bridging, and Switching Routed Network Protocols Telecommunications
In total, the Internetworking curriculum provides over 300 hours
of detailed technical instruction for system administrators and
networking and data communications specialists.
The UNIX Curriculum (SUN solaris Certification)
Enterprise operating systems run on powerful servers, providing
the power necessary to run today's corporate network and intranet/Internet
systems. In this context, the UNIX® operating system remains an
important option as the platform for network and Internet servers.
The WebLearning UNIX curriculum is a suite of interrelated courses
providing in-depth and comprehensive training in the technical architecture,
implementation, configuration, and management of UNIX systems. UNIX
is positioned both as an advanced operating system and an important
commercial software product with a wide range of facilities for
software development, communications, and commercial computing.
Initial courses provide an overview of UNIX and allow the student
to gain a technical awareness of the features and operation of UNIX.
More advanced courses provide system administration training on
Sun Solaris™.
The Datawarehousing and Business Intelligence Curriculum(Oracle
Warehouse Analyst)
The Business Intelligence curriculum is aimed at trainee project
managers, consultants routinely engaged in Business Intelligence,
experienced project managers wishing to refresh their thinking on
the principles of Business Intelligence, and program managers and
senior managers employing or managing project managers. The courses
cover the principles and processes involved in all aspects of Business
Intelligence—dealing with issues such as ETL, Dimension Modeling,
Datawarehouse design, Database Administartion, Project scheduling,
communications, resources, procurement, risk, and quality. This
curriculum has been specifically built to cover all areas of Business
Intelligence applicable to the Business Intelligence Professional
certification examination offered by the Oracle and IBM Business
Intelligence Certification Program's.
The Technical Support Curriculum (COMPTIA A+)
The Technical Support curriculum provides comprehensive training
to PC technical support specialists. The courses provide foundation-level
training in PC support, covering areas such as PC configuration,
diagnostics and repair, as well as more platform-specific courses.
The courses have been built to prepare candidates wishing to sit
the A+ Certification™ exams offered by the Computing Technology
Industry Association (CompTIA). Specific exams covered include the
A+ Core examination and the A+ Microsoft DOS/Windows examination.
This curriculum also includes courses dealing with the support of
Microsoft® Windows® 95, Microsoft Windows® 98, and Microsoft Windows
NT® for those who wish to become more proficient in specific platforms.
The E-commerce Curriculum
WebLearning's E-commerce curriculum is aimed at a wide range of
information technology (IT) professionals and business managers,
including senior managers employing or managing IT professionals,
IT managers, consultants routinely engaged in implementing Internet/extranet
solutions or e-commerce solutions, and webmasters engaged in the
design of storefronts. The courses cover the principles and processes
involved in all aspects of understanding and implementing e-commerce
solutions for businesses. The six courses in the curriculum provide
an understanding of the framework of e-commerce, security considerations,
consumer payment protocols, business-to-business infrastructures,
and developments in the banking and finance e-commerce area. This
curriculum, along with the Internet Security curriculum, provides
organisations with the critical knowledge and skills required for
doing business securely on the Web.
The Rational Curriculum (SUN Java Certification)
The UML is the industry-standard language for specifying, visualizing,
constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems.
The UML simplifies the complex process of software design, enabling
developers to create a "blueprint" for construction. Rational developed
the UML with contributions from other industry leaders, including
Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle. The curriculum starts with an overview
of OOAD, the UML, and the Rational Objectory Process.
Students are brought through the whole OOAD development cycle from
requirements capture using use-cases to finding classes, analyzing
system behavior, documenting decisions using the UML, and turning
an analysis into a design. The curriculum ends with two courses
introducing the industry's leading object-oriented (OO) modeling
tool, Rational Rose® 98.
The courses have been designed in close partnership with Rational
Software Corporation. Students are not required to have any prior
knowledge of OOAD or the UML, but some object-oriented programming
experience would be desirable. This curriculum will complement our
range of object-oriented programming curricula, including C++, Microsoft®
Visual C++®, Microsoft Visual Basic®, and Java™, but does not target
any particular OO language. The course is suitable for a whole range
of software professionals, including project managers, application
developers, analysts and designers, and anyone interested in learning
more about OOAD.
Oracle eBusiness Suite R11i Curriculum (Oracle Applications
certification)
WebLearning Oracle eBusiness Suite R11i, formerly known as Oracle
Appliactions, was developed to deliver industry-validated business,
management, and professional education leading to Oracle Certification.
The Oracle R11i eBusiness Suite's interactive distance education
utilises advanced learning technologies, including the Internet
and corporate intranets. Core Modules covered include: Applications
Technolgy, Oracle Financials, Manufacturing, HR, Procurement and
CRM.
This program provides a broad curriculum to meet the needs of these
users and support the needs of project team members as a supplementary
or cross-training resource. For project team members the AR, AP,
GL and Applications Implemetors curriculum features a range of introductory
and advanced business process courses that helps this core audience
to understand the benefits of implementing Oracle Applications R11i,

The Java Curriculum (SUN Java Certification)
The WebLearning Java curriculum has been developed in conjunction
with IBM, the JavaSoft business unit of Sun Microsystems, and Netscape
to promote the "100% Pure Java" initiative. This initiative is a
series of education, branding, and marketing programs aimed at helping
developers learn more about Java and how their companies can successfully
leverage this technology. The curriculum is aimed at programmers
and application developers, and is streamed for both students requiring
an introduction to the fundamentals of object-oriented programming
and experienced OOP developers who require a "fast-track" approach
to Java. Students can then progress to the specifics of Java classes
and user-interface programming with Java. The curriculum also includes
a number of courses from which students can select relevant titles
for their particular areas of interest. These courses include Java
Animation and Images Java Database Connectivity Java Security, Networking,
and the Internet Java and Distributed Objects Students are provided
with examples of Java applets, JavaBeans™ components, and experience
in using Java class libraries and writing their own "Write Once,
Run Anywhere" applications. The courses also include useful programming
techniques and advice on porting existing applications to Java.
The instructional design of these courses has been carried out jointly
by WebLearning, IBM, JavaSoft, and Netscape Communications Corporation.
The curriculum has been certified as 100% Pure Java. The Java 2
curriculum sets out to teach the principles of programming with

The Linux Curriculum
This set of four courses attempts to help those new to Linux to
understand the basics of this revolutionary operating system. The
Red Hat distribution is the environment used to demonstrate Linux
throughout. Those already experienced in UNIX will find use in the
way routine tasks are demonstrated using the Gnome interface. These
courses cover the basic UNIX commands needed in a Linux environment.
It also introduces networking concepts and features. Many more courses
would be needed in order to cover system administration techniques
but these four act as a starter pack for those looking at Linux
for the first time.
